Who we are and what we offer Temple Ireland is Ireland’s only dedicated After-The-Event (ATE) litigation costs insurance company. With our dedicated Dublin based solicitor led underwriting team and 25 years’ experience at the top of the UK ATE Insurance market our mission is to merge local knowledge and global experience to make our ATE products an integral part of the Irish litigation landscape. We listened to solicitors throughout Ireland and understand that they want to wholly concentrate on representing their clients to the fullest extent without the worry of exposing the client to adverse costs risks.
With this core message in mind we have tailored policy options that:
- Level the litigation playing field putting the client in that same position as an opponent who may routinely have the full backing of an insurer to discharge outlays during the course of a litigation;
- Help firms take on more cases, with more litigants able to pursue claims, firms will be able to run more cases which would otherwise have been abandoned due to lack of resources;
- Include interim claim payments options that allow the insurance policy absorb the upfront cost of instructing experts taking the financial burden away from the client and firm;
- Help clients gain access to justice, clients with a good case but without the necessary resources will get the support and security they need under a Temple Ireland insurance policy;
- Insure EU and UK domiciled clients litigating in the Irish courts.

Our UK Parent Company
Temple UK has been a significant player in the UK’s Legal Expenses Insurance market for the past 25 years. Established in January 1999 by Chris Wait, and operating as a Managing General Agent (MGA) authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Temple UK specialises in the ATE and BTE insurance market. Temple UK has, since 2010 to the current time, achieved a gross written premium in excess of €500 million and extended over €24 billion in insurance cover to its clients.
Temple Ireland represents a strategic expansion initiative into the Irish and wider EU market place and Temple Ireland aims to replicate the success of its parent company by providing tailored insurance solutions to Irish consumers and corporate entities.
With a focus on ATE and BTE insurance products, Temple Ireland seeks to address the underserved legal expenses insurance market in Ireland and establish itself as a trusted partner for clients navigating legal challenges.
Our Association with RSA
All our insurance products are backed by Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA). RSA is the UK’s oldest general insurance company, is the insurer. They are a UK based “A rated” insurer and have been in the insurance business for more than 300 years. Temple is proud to be the litigation insurance managing general agent of RSA. We have been given exclusive delegated authority to quote, bind and issue contracts of insurance. In addition we develop, market and promote new litigation insurance products on their behalf and administering all claims
